Veterinary consent

Client Information for Rehabilitation cases

The Veterinary Surgeons Exemptions Order (2015) stipulates that any remedial treatment carried out on a patient with a pre-existing condition, requires authorisation from a veterinary surgeon first. Therefore, if your animal is receiving physiotherapy to aid healing or management, your vet will need to provide approval of the treatment prior to the appointment.

This allows myself to obtain further clinical details of the specific case ensuring an appropriate physiotherapy plan can be formed for the patient. In such cases, to ensure both the vet & myself are able to work in conjunction with each other optimally to maximise the chances of the patients success, it is important both parties are aware of significant developments in either the physiotherapy sessions or vet treatment. Thus, a veterinary report will be produced by myself following treatments and will be sent to the vet as appropriate.

Gaining veterinary referral

Download a veterinary referral form & send this to your vet for completion prior to the treatment. Once you have received the form, this can be emailed to myself for viewing.

Alternatively this can be completed by myself. All I require is the name of your veterinary practice.
